Delivery Date Estimator thread

I'd have to say the system is seriously hosed. My dates used to range from 3/22/08 - 6/20/08. Today they say 12/13/07 - 3/12/08. Since I've no idea where my car is but my dealership says late this month, I'm thinking this is probably inaccurate...

First I reserved on 4/3/07 and have been on a roller coaster with the DDE and my dealer. My first DDE was 3/23 to 6/22. Second DDE was 6/7 to 9/5 and today it was 1/18/08-4/18/08. After I e-mailed the dealer on my second DDE they told me it looked like my car would be delivered in July. However, after I questioned this they told me there was a "glitch" in the DDE. After my changed DDE this a.m. I e-mailed them again and....

I just got a call from Smart Center Chandler. My car at the Vehicle processing center in Long Beach. I will be able to take delivery in 7-10 days or sooner.

So it looks like today's DDE is about right. I will get it almost to the last day of my date range. I think the DDE was updated as cars were being scanned in and checked at the Port. Those of you who had major date changes (moved up) may be getting the call as well. I wish all of you good luck.

update im a 1136 configed 12/21/07 dde says 3/22/08 to 6/21/07 now the new news DEALER CALLED WITH MY VINNNNN THEY SAY WITHIN 30 TO 0 HOUR!!!!!!!!!!! WELL LETS SEE

a little change again, delayed 2 days from my second estimate. This is GOOD that things are not static

My dealer still has not seen my name on any IB or PAG provided list

I am a government employee that travels extensively and need some lead time to arrange purchase and pick up during a period when I am "in town"

My dealer has some employees that are prior military and they fully understand this logistics and scheduling dynamic.

They are just as frustrated as I am with the lack of more rational time lines ..... Or for that matter any information...

This dealer has already had one car hauler arrive unexpectedly and they had to provide the VINs to smart regional manager to get a list of who they were for... hummm seems to be another level of incompetence in my not so humble opinion!

I have told them, and they fully understand, that if my car magically arrives while I am out Temporary Duty (TDY) for 30~45 days they had better hold my car until my return.....

This of course is unfair to the dealer who gets charged a tax by days "on the lot".

With some reasonable advanced notice, I can re-arrange my schedule... But to block out a 90~120 day period where I cannot travel because a car MIGHT be inbound is not practical

So we wait, patiently, some more.... and I try to plan my business around me being "in town" as much of May, June, and July as practical....

I never rec'd the 30 day email from smart, only a vague call from dealer, introducing themselves and saying that they'll be my dealer. this after I'd been there several times over the past months to tell them the same thing ;-). I only rec'd the VIN when the car was on the boat, <14 days from delivery. As frustrating as all this is, I tend to like it better when I know as much or more than the people I'm doing business with. I'm lucky because it is showing up just about when I expected, so my perspective wrt waiting is different.
I too asked for whatever advance notice possible due to the fact that I don't own a car and have to arrange financing, parking, insurance, et al from scratch. Aside from missing a trip to Brazil in order to try to get things arranged, I'm pretty well setup now, I think for delivery. The shock/reality of the pricing for parking and insurance are wearing off, and the money appears to be in place, so a few more days...
