The CA cars have their own separate routing via Manzanillo, Panama. The East coast ports are served by the same ships, sometimes beginning with Halifax, NS or NY/NJ before Baltimore, thence going coastwise to Brunswick, GA and JAX.

The above table represents a perfectly complete record of changes in the DDE ETA (for my car), since the inception of the system on 31 March.
As of 17 May, my car had a VIN and an official ETA of 12 June.
The car was loaded on the Independence II at Bremerhaven on 28 May, and discharged at Baltimore on 10 June. It is due to arrive at the dealership within the next few days.
I have added this updated information because of the interesting fact that the DDE results have changed four times since the car was on the dock parking lot at Baltimore. I wonder if this means that trucking information is amongst the data computed by the DDE. I know that one truck-load of the smarts from the Independence II (not including my car) has already reached the dealership.

could be, but with a HUGE 90 day window, there doesn't seem to be any point in doing that.
it's interesting, my DDE has not changed since the ship landed in baltimore winnetou, actually, has not changed since the car was built. <knock on wood>
Well, my heart breaks daily when I look at my DDE. 1 1/2 weeks ago I had an ETA of July 23. My DDE is STILL creeping just about daily. When I had the ETA of July 23, my DDE said June 23 - September 21, 2008. Now my DDE states June 29, 2008 - September 27, 2008. I feel like someone doesn't like me. What can possibly be getting put ahead of my car at the plant that these adjustments have to be made? I feel like some mucky-mucks are saying, "Oh, she can wait. Put my car on the line first". I know. That's very paranoid of me, but that's how it feels. If the dates were closer rather than farther out, it would be much easier to take. Can't figure this thing out at all.
Yes, the comparatively brief time period between my reservation and delivery is due to my location. This has been discussed at length on this and other threads. There are three smart dealerships in this region, and demand was low in 2007. Every smart dealership must be provided with a minimum number of cars per unit time in order to remain viable, so customers with reservations are served in order, but only within their respective dealers’ territories.
My car has arrived at the dealership, and I will collect it on Friday, which is the earliest time possible. Thus, while I may hold the record (amongst forum participants only) for the shortest time between reservation, configuration, and delivery, others, such as SmartCard, have received their cars more rapidly from the Baltimore docks despite greater distance therefrom. There are many variables in the distribution of smart cars. But it is clear that the Long Island, New York area, despite its many and severe deficits, is the ideal place to be if one desires to purchase a smart to order as quickly as possible.
I can add that the DDE results changed again to-day:
