WOW Techman. less than a years wait? How did you get so lucky?
He lives in Manhattan. That seems to be the place to be if you want your smart in a hurry. One person on this Forum got his (her?) car in less than six months from the time it was RESERVED! Lucky!

Some areas with a small territory per dealership have a faster allocation. I reserved the last day of AUG 07 and picked up in the last days on June this year, less than a year. I feel spoiled for sure!
I was foolish and, after tracking the smart since 2000 and wanting one desperately, I didn't trust the smart process and waited until July 12, 2008 to order one. HOW CAUTIOUS CAN ONE BE!!!! At any rate, after I reserved, I received a confirmation number back of # 3142711654. Can someone translate this for me in terms of how to read the number and when I may expect configuration?
I know I've read something about this on the site but can't find it. Would really appreciate your help.
The reservation number that came from "noreply@smartusa.com" called «Your smart USA Reservation» is the moment your $99 deposit was entered into IB's system.
I.e.
the number: 3142711654 or 31|42|71|1654
31 = 13 seconds
42 = 24 minutes
71 = 17 hours
(all Pacific time)
into the 1654 day after Jan 1, 2004
The program started March 19, 2007 with #...1173
And today's #...1677
Let me see if I understand this: Is my actual confirmation number is #1654"? the reservation was entered into the system at 5:24:13 (PST); is that correct? Many thanks.

It is correct, as JPaul says and all very interesting. However, it has very little connection to when you might actually see your car.
I didn't know about that URL. I guess it's too soon for them to have my DDE. I reserved my cabrio July 12. This is the message that came up for me: Estimated ETA Date:
Your vehicle delivery date cannot be estimated at this time.
It is important to note that the DDE does not reflect any potential changes in vehicle production, distribution and Reservation Holder cancellations. Any of these factors could change your estimated delivery date. Please continue to check the Delivery Date Estimator from time to time for updated information. I think that Long Island, New York has had by far the briefest period between reservation and delivery. I reserved my car on 1 February, 2008, and collected it at the dealership on 20 June, 2008: just under four months and three weeks. It is my understanding that this region still has the briefest wait for a smart.
With respect to post #591, Winnetou is chief of the Mescalero Apache, thus his gender is self-evident. Place his name in a search engine, and you can learn about him, and his blood-brother Karl May.
My EDD now changes on a daily basis. Here are my last 5 EDD. I reserved mine on August 31, 2007 RES #1308. I confirmed in March, and I'm getting a bumble-bee. Yellow/Black. Even thought the EDD doesn't make since, I'm glad to see it change, because it means I'm closer to getting it. For months you don't have an EDD then for months it stays the same. To see it move everyday it gets exciting to watch. According to this forum, I'm due to get the car in Septemeber. I still haven't got the famous email from the dealer yet. I don't know who my dealer will be. Last Monday smart said it wasn't out of production yet.
EDD START DATE
25 July 08
4 Aug 08
11 Aug 08
15 Aug 08
12 Aug 08
