doing a second reservation??
hello. does anyone know if you can cancel your first reservation at the dealer, and then make a new reservation? my reservation is #1192, dealer called today and said car is here! and I can pick up tomorrow. wife says no, we must wait a year. Is there a way to tell dealer no, then order a new one? thanks.

Sure...if you want to wait 18 months for your specific car. I reserved 4/5/08 and my DDE is Sept-Nov '09, #1556. If you don't want to wait, tell your dealer you cannot take delivery now (this will make someone on the Orphans list very happy) but you want to be placed on the orphan list. Be sure to be very upfront explaining your need to wait a year for delivery. You might get lucky, you might wait a year and a half for your car.

Not sure why your wife is saying no, however, the current price will probably be gone next year with the dollar's devaluation. Also a "bird in the hand".... you never know what's going to happen.
I think the dealer will be happy to have an orphan to sell.
I'm sure you will not have trouble making another reservation, once you cancel the present one.
Good luck with your choice.

you certainly won't hurt your dealers feelings. they'll have no problem selling your car to someone else.
like 'dunerunner' said, be very upfront and specific. get on the orphan list but tell them that you probably won't be accepting an orphan the next 12 months.
be upfront with them and i'm sure you'll be treated the same way. after all, they DO want to sell you a car. if not today or tomorrow....then in 12 months from now.
are you SURE you can't talk her into to it NOW? sure is a shame.....

Worse case you will have to use a different e-mail and license number. Use your wifes!
My first one is reserved under my information and my #1500 reservation is under my wifes information.

I would sit her down and explain to her its going to be far more than a year from today to get one. Maybe even 2, depending on your location, so its a now for never type situation. Prices will go up for sure. But if you must, you get you $99 back (eventually)

Nope, can't be done. You'll need to get a new wife.

Why not purchase the vehicle and then sell to another person with a small markup so that the NEW owner doesn't have to pay for Dealership markups and then you can keep your small markup profit and then everyone is happy except perhaps for the Dealer. Should be an easy sell.
