How long between reservation and confirmation

Configured 1 Mar 08.
DDE Nov 08 - Jan 09.
Adopted an orphan Apr 08.

Seven months to the day. I reserved on June 25, 2007 and Configured on January 28, 2008. I actually received my invitation to configure on January 25, 2008, though. I have now been waiting almost exactly another six months for delivery, and it now appears to be late July when I'll get delivery. Hopefully the date won't slip any more.

I ordered a Passion, Silver/Black(Tridion)

Only options: pods (clock/rev) - Smart without these just isn't a smart imho
and Metalic Silver paint

Good luck for those waiting its worth it - I am planning to order my second in a year and pass this one to my son

yeah, reserved one month ago and no dde. im definitely outside the 18 month window. i should start a thread to see how many of us are completely "in the dark" about our smarts.

Reserved July 30th 2007,confirmed Feb.1st 2008,call from dealer that car is in transit and delivery will be in " about " 30 days ( middle to end of July ) today ( June 19th ) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's even worse (for you, not me) is that I just reserved a bit over a week ago, and I have 09/09 - 11/09, and I don't even have a dealer in my city yet. However, for those of you who don't want to wait, you can sometimes get on orphan lists. Sometimes, people make the reservation, and for whatever reason, they cancel before the car gets here. Some people on the board have mentioned that they have walked into the dealer to test drive, and have driven away in an orphan. I got a PT Cruiser in two months when the waiting list was 11 months by doing the same thing. You can't be picky, though, and you have to be careful of dealer add-ons when getting orphans. But if you want an exact configuration, you need to wait. I'm excited, as mine should be coming around my 34th birthday.

I placed my reservation online last night and today I requested a test drive from the Atlanta dealership. In my email I asked how long it would be for my Smart car to actually be delivered and the reply was "The approximate time to receive your smart car is about 9 to 12 months, even though it may be longer".

I guess only time will tell for sure!
