Just read that the smartville factory was built to handle a maximum capacity of 200,000 cars per year, a capacity it has never come close to using. That's over 825 a day capacity (assuming 48 work weeks, 5 days a week).
It's already at full speed, within the employment requirements imposed to Smartville by either labor laws or Daimler AG.
smartville cannot hire enough workers to cover a third shift, because they cannot guarantee them a secure full time and long term employment and, by doing so, go against French working laws.
