If I have to wait until 2009...

Will I get a 2009 SMART?

Since I basically reserved last month, and it is quite evident I would have to wait a year to get my car (which I am starting to doubt I will), will I be getting a 2008 or a 2009? Do we even know if the 2009 will be different? Like an automatic transmission, more goodies, different pricing scheme, etc.

Just curious!

But you didn't wait to 2009!

your order will certainly be at the edge of model years. My guess you might confirm in late summer, and its anyones guess whether that'll be the end of the '08 run or a '09 - which my guess won't have too many changes.

Watch the stock market and the national foreclosure rate on houses. That will give you a better idea of when you might get your car.

Just Ordered

Just ordered my Yellow Passion the other day.. was told 8-10 months. Test drove a coupe Passion with all the bells and whistles.. ordered almost the exact same but in Yellow..used the paddles to shift during the test drive.. its so easy and sooo smooth..

Did not get "power steering" on the recommendation of the sales person.. any input on this.. can't imagine it would be that hard to turn..

I am a hard core SUV owner and "big car" driver of many years.. I just fell in love with the Smart..plenty of room to stretch out.. alot of pep.. and a gas miser..

I was also curious after the fact about what year I was actually going to get and think I will call 2mrw to find out.. I have a feeling that there will be some available as orders come in and the people can't afford to buy because of the economy.. yes they are very reasonable but when you have no job they become expensive..

I reserved my car 06/29/2007 and I was just called by the dealer and was notified that my car will be here approximately the end of September. My problem is that the very same day Smart announced the changes for 2009 which they said will be released 11/2008. It doesn't seem fair for me to pay the same price for a 2008 as those who got theirs earlier, when mine will be a year-old model six weeks later.

You're RIGHT! You should just orphan it and start over!

I guess I should be lucky that I ordered mine Feb 2 then. From what I have been told or not told, I most likely will see mine in Nov. I know it will be the 09 model I got my email for the configuration the day after they put out the new specs on the 09. When I configured it, they had the new RALLY RED, which I picked. I also noticed when I printed it out, that it has the gas cap sensor that is new, and the cargo side door compartments. So, I am guessing, that you configured your car before the 09 specs got uploaded to the smart site for configuration. If you still have your link/ printout, you would just have to look for the new cargo net, or gas cap, and you would be getting the 09.
