Reservation vs Configuration Date

Curious what the concensus is, I reserved our smart on the late side (3/20), got the configuration email on 10/8 but didn't configure it until 10/14. Long story short we were overseas and internet access was spotty.

Do you think the reservation number will take priority over when the actual configuration was entered?

I'm not an insider, but that's the way I understood it. Your reservation is used for priority order, and configuration ate follows based on a few location variables.

Probably what will determine your delivery date is the batch that your configuration was in, ie, the order batch to the factory. If a batch went out just after 10/8, and your configuration went out in the next batch, there would be a small time delay. However, it probably won't be much. And then again, maybe they don't batch order, just order each configuration as it comes in. Who knows? Sounds like once the smart is in production, it moves quickly through shipping, to the dealer. We probably will not experience having them sit at the ports waiting for transport. It costs money to have them sitting around unpaid for.

So far, they seem to be pretty respectful of the initial reservation date. Good luck with your new smartie!

My guess is the later you confirm the later you are on the list of people who reserved that day, but we will never know for sure.

that would be my guess too, batches of orders were probably submitted weekly....so once you confirm and configure, the reservation date becomes secondary.

This seems like the only way to keep the process moving without have to wait for those who ar elate confirming or fail to all together.
