I had the same confirmation email sent to me on January 18th '08 so I am wondering if they are weekly emails or may be you made a typo when you wrote "Jan11th "

I am a 1218 with a mid December configure from the Pac NW.

i think gene is talking about the BIG ONE "your car will be at the dealership ready for delivery in the next 30 days" i have read where some of those have gone out no idea of the dates. one post said they got the email 30 or so days ago and the car hasn't made it to the dealer yet. my dealer told me he has not seen my name on any paperwork from smart yet. others seem to indicate that their dealr was able to give them their vin. i wonder what gives

Call your assigned dealer and ask them for your VIN # (if they already have received your info from PAG)

Then go to http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTrac...trackType=Auto
Enter the VIN # in the Cargo ID.
This will only tell you when the car was shipped and when it arrived. Hundreds of smarts arrived before Jan 18th.

I confirmed mine in August and my car arrived at Baltimore in December 13th 2007. Yet because of dealer delays in opening, PAG did not start to deliver my dealers assigned cars until this past Friday.

strider63, you poor guy i bet you were going nuts knowing your car was sitting there waiting and you couldn't get it. patience is not my strong suit here.

Yup ,
not easy when some SCOA members that ordered and configured their smarts after I did, are on the road already.
But I have been waiting for the smart to come to the US since I saw them in Europe seven years ago. So a few more weeks wait is no big deal.

Just as a side note, I wrote to Nicolas Hayeck (in those days, Swatch was still involved and I'm also Swiss) in 1999 about selling me one. He said: I wish I could, but couldn't provide maintenance!

Didn't get that e-mail

I made my reservation last Feb, and got my confiemation e-mail in mid Nov. But I have not hear anything eles about what dealer I have or even what number I am, or gotten that "30 day e-mail".

smart n up, i see wher you made your reservation in feb of 07. i thought they started reservations on march 19-07your configure date is more like a start of arpil date. you sure about the timing? thanks

My email titled "Notification to Reservation Holder from smart 1"

I reserved on 3/21/07. Confirmed configuration on 10/18/07.
I received the follow email on Friday 2/1/08. Received the call from the dealership on Saturday 2/2/08 to come in for my extended test drive, pick my dealer options and start the loan application. My appointment was on Sunday 2/3/08. All went well. After the extended test drive I am much happier driving a true US spec version and the wait to get mine will be well worth it ...IMHO!

Ron #1175 Factory order: Silver/silver/cabrio - black leather, all factory options except fog lamps (not much fog in AZ). Dealer add-ons: upgraded floor mats, standard window tint and will add extended warranty at time of purchase.

ron, thanks you for sharing that e mail with us. i have often read of this email but have never seen it. thanks again. below is the jan 18 e mail i got:

Dear Reservation Holder,

This has been a remarkable week for smart USA! On Wednesday we delivered the first smart fortwo in the United States and, as of today, deliveries to Reservation Holders are taking place at smart centers nationwide.

We appreciate how anxious all of our Reservation Holders are to take delivery of their very own smart fortwo. We also apologize for not being able to communicate more specific information regarding the status of your individual order.

Reservation Holders whose vehicles are in route from Germany have been notified by smart USA and their dealer. Within the next 30 days any Reservation Holder who has a confirmed order in production will also be notified by smart USA and their dealer.

For all other Reservation Holders, we are working diligently to provide you with a 90 day window for your anticipated delivery, based on assumptions available at that time. This information should be available by the end of March.

Again, we appreciate your continued patience and enthusiasm!
