ron, thanks you for sharing that e mail with us. i have often read of this email but have never seen it. thanks again. below is the jan 18 e mail i got:
Dear Reservation Holder,
This has been a remarkable week for smart USA! On Wednesday we delivered the first smart fortwo in the United States and, as of today, deliveries to Reservation Holders are taking place at smart centers nationwide.
We appreciate how anxious all of our Reservation Holders are to take delivery of their very own smart fortwo. We also apologize for not being able to communicate more specific information regarding the status of your individual order.
Reservation Holders whose vehicles are in route from Germany have been notified by smart USA and their dealer. Within the next 30 days any Reservation Holder who has a confirmed order in production will also be notified by smart USA and their dealer.
For all other Reservation Holders, we are working diligently to provide you with a 90 day window for your anticipated delivery, based on assumptions available at that time. This information should be available by the end of March.
Again, we appreciate your continued patience and enthusiasm!
Sincerely,
The smart USA Team
I am waiting to hear from smart or the dealer about my fortwo
strider63, can you spare some of your patience? I could sure use it.
Just as a side note, I wrote to Nicolas Hayeck (in those days, Swatch was still involved and I'm also Swiss) in 1999 about selling me one. He said: I wish I could, but couldn't provide maintenance!

From your profile it says your assigned dealer is scAlexandria.
Keep an eye on this thread, its updated often with scAlexandria news. Central Virginia Delivery News
When the dealer calls you ask for your VIN#, you will need it to track the car across the big pond, and for insurance quotes.
To track you VIN# go to http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTrac...trackType=Auto
Enter the VIN # in the Cargo ID.
This will only tell you when the car was shipped and when it arrived. Hundreds of smarts arrived before Jan 18th.
This way you will know if your car is here or still in France.
Good luck
I made my reservation last Feb, and got my confiemation e-mail in mid Nov. But I have not hear anything eles about what dealer I have or even what number I am, or gotten that "30 day e-mail".
lol
What dealer? the "30 day e-mail" should have indicated which is you delivery dealer. From your location I assume it may be scAnnapolis
Just call them or go by it to see if they are open yet.
Good luck
strider63, thanks for the tip. I talked to the lady answering the phone Friday, she said the place is open. Today I left a message on Gary Leeman's voice box telling him that I'll call Monday AM, and will visit Monday PM. (I hate to disturb people on Sunday when it's for business). I shall report Monday late afternoon. Unless they didn't get cars. Thanks again, and good luck to you too.
sending an e mail to smart asking why they have not contacted me as they indicated they would on 1-18. waiting to see what transpires
Thanks, mefam4, for being so diligent. I received the same 1-18 email and have not heard anything. Did get an inquiry about an orphan from my dealer, but decided to wait for my "baby." Keep us posted if they answer you.

WOW I AM FLOORED BY THE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION! NOT
I'm really a reader, not a poster but, after reserving 4/20/07 (1205) and confirming 12/01/07, I accepted the one year wait as fair. And I felt proud or at least SMART that I was on top of the process of getting the coolest new ride to come down the pike...that I could afford. But now as I've waited..... I see those that got on the wagon 5 or 6 or more months later, drive away with an orphan. What about "Us" the ambassidors that told everyone that cared... "You should go to smart and reserve yourself a car for $99." And as I've now realizied, if I was SMART, I should also be on an orphan list. So I registered on my dealer list on Sat. 02/16/08 only to find out I'm number 121 on that list. I was one of the first SEGWAY dealers on this planet and we all know where that went. The Toyota IQ is looking very good and I know If I do get my SMART, I will sell it as soon as the IQ is available. RideOn
