Search YouTube for Smart Diablo, you'll see why you should keep your reservation. :-)

So who's got a conversion for Hayabusas into 451s?

but it puzzles me why non-smart people would want to congregate here and complain about their non-smart choices being slandered. seriously.

Indeed.
Folks here are just consumers: we don't manufacture Smarts, we're not responsible for the long delivery waits, and we're not in charge of who gets an available orphan car.
Most of us brushed-up on Smart's USA arrival sometime around the early part of 2007--- and prepared accordingly. We reserved promptly, waited, and received the product.
Others, however, meander into showrooms and scavenge for orphans-- or see a new Smart in person--and expect to fork out MSRP for an immediate delivery. It simply doesn't work that way.
Don't want one? Cancelled an untimely reservation? Purchased a Honda or Toyota instead? Fine. Best of luck to you. Now, how about hopping over to a more appropriate Honda or Toyota owner's site??

Many more of us did not order right away because we were told, even at the time we reserved, that the wait was 6-8 months. I reserved when I did based on what smart was saying the wait time was. So if someone feels misled or just decides he/she can't wait, they may make another choice. Since this is a forum, I welcome their opinion and comments concerning the product, and lets be honest the wait is a part of the product. Forums are for discussing the issues of the product, and if you don't like people badmouthing smart and buying other cars, just wait a while until they start breaking more, none of them are a year old yet.
I have many cars and motorcycles, so I go to forums on them too, and the situations are no different; heck, give the BMW car club magazine a read.....every month people complain about the cars and say they are going to buy another brand. If someone has a bad experience with anything...I want to hear about it. If people are giving up on smart to go to another product that is more available.....I want to hear about that too. I have been enthusiastic about micro cars all my life, and even if I never was to get my smart, and continue to drive other things, I would hope it would still be okay to post on this site about a relevent event concering smart for me, otherwise, maybe this is not the kind of site I would want visit and share my opinion in in the first place.

A lot of us have friends here. A lot of us still like Smarts. A lost of us have joined other forums for our particular car choice but are still interested in the progress of the fortwo. Sometimes we are going to have a difference of opinion on a subject. That is not a reason for any of us to leave.
