I have of-late gotten the impression that the vaunted 10-digit number doesn't, in itself, mean much - that it has either been equated to another numbering system by IB or that a completely differently location/numbering system has existed all along. But, the original theory still exists - first in; first out (first in your dealer's baliwick; first delivered by your dealer).
