NOVA or DC Chapter

Why do other regions have local chapters, and the Mid-Atlantic doesn't. What would it take to creat a NOVA or DC area local chapter?

We've started a group in the Hampton Roads area. Having our second meet this Saturday. Had a dozen smarties at our first. The D.C. meets are too far away for day trips. Of course, anyone is welcome to come to our meets.

Not as easy as it sounds

Being an officer in the Greater Washington Section (GWS) of the MBCA, I can tell you that running a local club isn't that easy. It takes organization and volunteers to do the things needed to provide a focus and run the events. As for a web site - that takes a little bit of money, time, and expertise. Speaking as the webmaster for the GWS, I'm willing to donate a little time to set up a basic (and believe me, it will be basic) web site if there's some way to come up with the funds to pay for hosting of the web site.

If you are really serious about a site for Smarts check out www.godaddy.com I have them for both my domains and for hosting. Their prices are very reasonable.

I took this from a thread posting. I hope it helps. I am going to try to start one here in Richmond, VA with a possible name of "Heart of Virginia" Chapter. I am thankful for the SCOA and it's support. I paid my $15.00 and became a member. It does pay off. If you are a member, I am sure you too will be supported.

I'd love a way to meet up with other MD/DC/VA smarties - always up for a distraction from school, especially when it involves smart cars!
