New 451 EV's selling cheap

Two EV's sold yesterday at the Annapolis, MD dealer.

1. 2014 cabriolet - MSRP - $29K - sold for $16.5K including taxes/fees.

2. 2015 coupe - MSRP - $26K - sold for $15.5K plus taxes/fees.

Those prices are before the $7500 tax credit, so both cars are ending up costing the new owners under $10K.

A see a number of dealers "stuck" with 451's. I'm guessing they are all anxious to unload them.

Yes,that would be complete. Great time to hop on the electric band wagon. Lots of 2013's coming off lease for not much more than $7000.00 some with extremely low milage. Lots of fun for short money.
Test drive one today!

I currently have a lease of a 2015 that ends in May 2018. One would think that I could negotiate to keep the car for much less than the $12.5K ( plus BAP lease) residual that is currently on the lease. That would be convenient since the dealer it needs to be returned to is 230 miles away.

With the $7500 federal tax credit, a brand spankin' new EV wouldn't be much more than $7K and it would come with a full four year/50K mile warranty.

And to Yinzer, not too long ago someone tried to get Mercedes to cut them a break on buying the car after the lease was up and they basically told him to buzz off. You would think they would have some sense and rethink that stance.

New 451 ED inventory, dead smart walking . . .

Don't forget - Customer Loyalty Cash of $1,000 on a smart Electric Drive if you own a smart, Mercedes-Benz or Sprinter vehicle.

Although most smart ED lease residuals are unrealistically high compared to the soft EV resale prices, haven't heard of any MBFS "love" at lease turn in? Appears this is feeding a constant supply of off lease ED 451 bargains at the auction houses.

MBFS accounting quandary, discount the customer residual or take a "book loss" at auction - which one looks best on the books?

Note, in an effort to get LEAF lessees to outright buy the electric car at the end of the lease, a year ago Nissan offered $6,500 credit/discount off residual buy-out price for 24-month lessees or $5,000 credit/discount off residual buy-out price for 36-month lessees on MY13 LEAFs.

Would expect most MBFS off lease ED bargains @ $7k will be sled only + BAP at $80 per month.
