Although most smart ED lease residuals are unrealistically high compared to the soft EV resale prices, haven't heard of any MBFS "love" at lease turn in? Appears this is feeding a constant supply of off lease ED 451 bargains at the auction houses.
MBFS accounting quandary, discount the customer residual or take a "book loss" at auction - which one looks best on the books?
Note, in an effort to get LEAF lessees to outright buy the electric car at the end of the lease, a year ago Nissan offered $6,500 credit/discount off residual buy-out price for 24-month lessees or $5,000 credit/discount off residual buy-out price for 36-month lessees on MY13 LEAFs.
