Bah!! I was rolling home from work tonight, about 11:30p, and got to a spot where there are two traffic lights controlling a short stretch of road near a major intersection; these lights control two different intersections, and are set up so that heading westbound on the main street you have to wait a bit at the second light after getting the green and passing through the first one...
I was heading westbound in the left-hand lane of the main drag and had stopped for the light at the first intersection, when I noticed a pair of headlights approaching at a pretty good clip in my rearview mirror. I braced for impact as I lost sight of the lights, but the idiot-child driving this car behind me managed to harness it down before making impact. I put him out of mind, and went back to listening to the iPod program I was listening to, and when I got the green light, proceeded forthwith to the next intersection, which was still red...
As I slowed for the second red light, I noticed in my peripheral vision the same headlights in the rearview I saw before, just as they disappeared from the cabrio rear window. Just as that image registered in my brain, the whole car was jolted forward by the impact of the anal spincter in the car behind me ramming headlong into my car. He must have just floored it, coming out of the standing stop at the first intersection and expected the light to change for him at the second, and obviously got surprised - "hey; there's a car in the way*WHAM!*"
Next thing I know, he's coming around me in the right-hand lane and burning off through the still-red light at the second intersection. I gave chase, but the anal sphincter got away before I could get a good read on his plate number... Silver Chevy Aveo, and I got two of the six digits. I called 911 right away and told them I was giving chase, but they told me to back it down... I was sooo frustrated! I *wanted* that rump-swab. Just give me five minutes, Officer... Just five little minutes, is all I ask... He'll still be alive.... Really...
The car still runs alright; I have Breathless Performance steel bumpers fore and aft, remember, and the brunt of the damage was borne by the aftermarket bumper - the mounts were pushed flat. It sounds like the muffler or flex pipe got ruptured, as the exhaust has a slightly different note than before, and the lower rear valance is cracked... But then, I do have a Carlsson Sport exhaust & valance here in the living room, waiting to go onto the car - thank ged I hadn't had the opportunity to install it yet (waiting for a decent enough day to paint the valance to match the car)...
Now I get to do the Insurance Dance... I hope my carrier doesn't try jacking my rates over this, or you'll hear me screaming bloody murder. Physically, I'm okay, I guess. Bit of a stiff neck, but I'll muddle through. Don't let me catch the anal sphincter who rammed me, though, or there'll be hell to pay.
Gawd, I am so pissed off.... Stay tuned for photos. But first, I have to get some sleep, as I have to be up in four hours and driving 70 miles or so to work in another city, this weekend.

Sorry to hear about your experience.
I'm really glad you didn't get the Carlsson exhaust put on yet.
It seems like hit and run is becoming too common in this part of the world, especially at night.
Whereabouts did this happen?

Rigger, so sorry to hear of your accident, hope you have no unusual aches and pain this morning.
Is MI still a no-fault insurance state? That seems to take away the incentive to track down the "perp" by either the police or the insurance carrier.
