High Insurance Rates

I live in Texas and when I got the bill for my Smart Car insurance, I was shocked. It is more than my 2007 2500HD truck.

Can anyone give me the name of an insurance company who has proper rates for a Smart Car?

I'm paying $42 a month through USAA.

GEICO and Nationwide I believe have good rates as well

Could you be more specific as to high insurance you're paying for the smart?

The Hannover is our carrier and the smart is priced between our other two cars. It seemed about right for the car and that its a daily driver. It was less than our Z4 with is rated as a pleasure car (meaning no commuting).

I wish SA would let you rate them as pleasure or commute.

I'm assuming this is per month? I am paying $104.17/month on mine.

Haven't notice any premium differences between insuring a smart relative to other similar cars. Must be your company- indeed didn't they give you the cost up front on the day you added it?

Like I said, we have bad credit. SO someone with good credit would pay less. That, and we just started about 7 months ago paying for insurance. After the accident, we revamped the budget.

are you sure the insurance is for 2008 smart and not one of the earlier, grey-market ones?
