I live in Jacksonville, Fl and pay $419.00 per year. I am insured through AARP, the Hartford Ins Co. I am 62 with a clean record and also have my Corvette Z06 insured with them. It is a 2004 and I pay just over $400.00 per year on it. My other cars are insured with Hagerty Classic Car insurance.

Can I assume you tell them you put about 3000 Miles a year on the Vet and 12000 a year on the smart.

Miles per year can make a big difference in your insurance rates.

He doesn't even have 2K miles on the Vette - it's just wasting away.

Doesn't that suck? The people who really want those cars bad can't afford them and the ones who can barely drive them.

They should make brand new Z06's so 21 year olds can afford them. Now that would be an idea, wouldn't it?

Your credit score plays into much of your insurance rates.

So what about my FICO score being in the 470's? How's that going to work out?

In over five years, the Corvette has 1052 miles. Less than 200 per year, and yes, my insurance co. knows it is a garage queen. The Smart will get about 2500 a year. I have five cars, am retired and don't drive as much as I used to. I mostly just drive to cruise-ins and car shows on the week ends. My wife does most of the driving now in the Nissan Quest mini van.

Badly. Find an insurance company that doesn't use FICOs.
