I have it on good authority that 205 front and 215 rear set fully inside the fender flairs

Most of the coil over adjustable suspensions that I am looking at have compression and rebound adjustable shocks, progressive rate springs, and the ability to set ride height (lower by 25~40mm)

I will probably roll my own or have a professional create a set of Carbon fiber rear flairs but for now the 225s do not set too far out to violate any unenforced Texas equipment laws... only real reason I will do a set of flairs is for looks and keep mud in the wheel wells

Been there done that. I find it a waste of money. I once had my car stoeln 4 times just for my wheels. Now I buy the rims and wheels that come form the dealer and it works for me. Normally they are tested and made for the car. Jus to show that it is not about the money, I just replaced the two back tires on my Vette, GMT's, cost me just over a grand mounted and speed balanced.

I plan on painting my wheels to match the set on my 8. Black spokes with a blue lip. I'm gonna turn my smart into a show car so go alongside the 8.

Pics of the 8 are in my myspace profile, myspace.com/rx8driver

I want these! Just stock 12 spokes that are available on the European models.
Any word on how and when we can get these?

personally, i might swap out the front steel wheels for 5.5x15's and put 195/50-15's all around, they worked great on my old metro (super grip and cornering) i'm just wondering if it will mess with the ESP/ABS computers onboard? then again, you'll need a lug wrench and a jack onboard to change a flat...

Any modifications needed to run that wheel/tire combination?

none on the rear, for the front I had to unclip my front spoiler and space it out about 1". Asides from that this thing handles like a lotus, hehehehe.
Not quite but it handles pretty nicely now

My plan is for Toyo Proxes T1R

The smart fortwo factory rear tires are 175x55x15 at 22.57" diameter and 921.5 revs per mile

I want to use 195x45x16 front 22.90:"diameter 908.2 revs per mile required rim width 6"~7.5"

and 215x40x16 rear at 22.77" diameter ans 913.4 revs per mile required rim width 7"~8.5

I still need to get my hands on the smart to determine the proper offset to make 6.5"~7.5" rims with these wide tires live under the wheel arches...

I am also planning for progressive rate springs and variable/adjustable shocks and I may opt for the full coil over ride height adjustable set up

I still need to figure the math for best offset.... I suspect the factory offset on that wide a rim in the front will cause the entire assy to be inside too tight and will rub in hard corners under deep compression

I found an interesting USA site where the owner is feeling out needs and desires to get a group buy big enough to make it worth while for custom made rims... He is talking in the $600 to $700 range for a full set of 4 rims. Not bad if it can be done. The sample selection is not bad looking

If interested..... google smartlegion, and under "classifieds" find the "group buys and specials" is the thread.
