...is there a list of approved air filters, like the oil/oil filters papers from smart, that calls out for these different manufacturers...if there is one, cool...if there's not one then I will suggest you find proof that the filter that you, the DIY guy used, was approved, just in case Murphy decides to take residence in the fan motor and your center declines you warranty consideration for the use of non approved parts...

..sorry chief it won't fly...if you are past the mileage of the required filter replacement, I will like to see your proof of purchase of the approved filter before I honor yor warranty claim....that's why you save all of your oil and filters tickets...
Does anybody seriously believe a clogged cabin air filter can/will cause any type of warranty related problem? Just can't see it.
BTW, there are no smart "approved" alternate oil filters either. Just the same, there's a Mobil 1 filter on our car now and I don't anticipate any problems.
I'm still looking for the cabin air filter in my old 'Vette.......... and trying to figure out why an air quality filter of any brand or description would void the warranty on the fan motor in said system. The fan motor in my real old Dodge truck blows out leaves it ingested years ago, and it's quite happy. This is kinda like saying "you put on the wrong oil filter, so we aren't going to fix your throttle body".

..I do..your restricted air filter (not you, but in general) created a major stress on the fan motor allowing it to overheat which in turn melted some of the winding coating, pitted the armature as the brushes bounced up and down from the heat and all of this made the motor less efficient and that's why you are not getting as much air flow as before and that's why your feet are cold....or something like that....this is at the most extreme of conditions..the one that the warranty claims guy will like to hold on so they don't have to pay..
