cubefx, what do you have affixed to your shifter housing (on the right)?

cubefx Hey Man

I met you at our Olrando get together the other night. Stopped by circuit city on the way home and picked up polk 6.5s They were 89 dollars so it wasn't as cheap as your online order but I couldn't wait :-) I followed your step by steps and had no problems putting them in all by myself. Thanks for your great post it made it really easy for me.

Is there really no way to replace the speakers without cutting through that insulation shield?

I believe not. The speaker screws in from the outside. You don't have to "cut" through the insulation, you just lift it up so you can get access to the speaker. Then just duct tape it when you put it back to be safe. That's what I did.

Very helpful DIY post. changing out these speakers is a must for anyone who cares at all about the sound quality in their smart. Now for some rear speakers
