Thanks for the great instructions. I too have been getting high beamed at, and the simple adjustment has stopped 98% of it.

Thanks again!

You're welcome. I'm surprised smart hasn't figured this out yet. I think most are aimed too high.

Face it. Americans don't care if they can see at night. How to drive at night and not get blinded was taught when I came of age. Look at the sideline on the road, not the oncoming headlights. It works.

Thanks for the headlamp adjustment info Dave777. Just installed my new HID 8000K and needed to adjust the lights. It was easy and quick. Much better now.

Thanks Dave! That was very helpful! I had to turn one of my lights clockwise about another half turn to get them to line up, then turned them both down about one and one half turns to lower them.

Good on you, man!

By the way, a thin phillips screwdriver will work also!

I know I'm just an old broad who does zip in auto repair. But I know there is something missing in these instructions. Why? Because my father was an auto mechanic from about 1920 to 1983. He would adjust the headlights by driving the car (with the headlights on) some unknown feet from a garage door. Then aim/adjust the headlights so many feet up from the ground.

Now who's going to fill in those 2 dimensions??

They will win this thread!

PS - I don't remember the answers.

Krootie, good question, but I don't really think anything is missing.

The original reason for this DIY was because lots of drivers, myself included, were finding either other drivers flashing at them because the lights seemed to be on high beam, or, like me, just found that the aim was too high on a level and dark road.

Adjust as necessary to suit your needs would be my advice.

I also had this concern. In noticed that even in daylight when using my low beams as DRLs on fast, un-divided roads I was getting flashback from reflective signs. I was convinced that the factory aim was too high. While I was in for my "2.0," I asked them to check the aim. They did with an optical aimer/adjuster (the only legal method in VA now) and found them dead-on correct.

As someone who has driven for over 40 years - this isn't a new problem on the road. I'm suggesting that the oldtimer mechanics knew to adjust/point the headlights (while lite) down and to the right so they would point towards the right side of the road - highlighting the painted line at night. Everyone knows to keep them low and out of the eyes of oncoming traffic. It's just that garage door or wall helped.

Wow this is really gunna be nice going to work in the morning and not getting flashed. ( i used to get excited whenever i got flashed lol) How long did your factory headlights last? Mine only made it like 6 months both dead, my dad changed them for me and broke off a retaining clip! Then lost the rest of it in the snow, the dealership said I'd have to buy an entire new light assembly $377, I've had some electrical tape doing the job for some time now but would really enjoy the confidence in knowing the light won't pop out after the next bump.Anyone have any ideas?
