Truly wonderful. My Brabus was getting lights flicked at it all the time. Now, after a year you provide this wonderful and oh so simple fix. If you make it to CT dinner is on me.

Headlight study spells DISASTER.....I read a year long international traffic study about the "factory equipped" H.I.D. and Xenon headlights.....study showed that 1 of every 6 "HEAD ON" collisions were caused from the oncoming car being temporarily blinded by the light intensity.....findings were that when the bright headlight traveled over a slight incline or around a curve the oncoming car was blinded 3-5 seconds in which time the driver lost the "tracking" and ran INTO the bright light.....in the case of Pedestrians, they were also blinded and stepped INTO the bright lights path because they could not see the ground in front of them....stumbling off the curb right into the oncoming bright light.....Also police depts nationwide report that "bright lights" are the #1 cause of "VIOLENT" road rage.....Highway depts are spending $$$$$ of your tax dollars to erect "shutters" to reduce road glare.....Optometrist report that these lights are causing "accelerated macular degeneration" .....doing the same damage as a welder not wear hood with dark lenses.....Government agencys are finding a great new source of ticket revenue by issuing $130 infractions for "colored" lights

Thanks for the invitation. I haven't been to CT in ages.

Glad people are still making use of this post after all this time.

This is just what I was looking for. That was an easy fix to mis-aimed headlights.

Big THANKS!

Thank you for this post! I was about to take my car to the dealer to have the headlights adjusted (one is pointing down very close to the car and the other is pointing to infinity and beyond [couldn't resist]). I just need to get the metric Allen key to do this.

Is this in the user manual

Upon purchase of my used 08, I had to go to a Smart dealership for a recall on the VIN # and user manual.

I actually read the user manual but could not find any info on adjusting the headlights. I am fluent in French (they are assembled in France, non?) so I know there wasn't a translation error. Did I miss something and need to get reading glasses?

Well, I was not able to adjust one of the car's headlights as it would not move no matter which direction I tried to adjust. Ended up taking it to the dealer to get it done. They had to replace the entire headlight unit as it came broken from the factory (the adjustment system was broken) and would not adjust! What a difference this made!

I noticed a bit of a problem with smart headlights the other day - I had to brake very hard (nearly missed my turn) at night, and the beam pattern must have only projected 20 feet in front of me, just because the car pitched so much. Lowering springs could be good for this...
