Baby on the way, fun is over with smart

I have had my car for a little over two weeks now and have put 1200 miles on it. I love it! Now I must sell it.. My wife is due in late summer and it will not work with paying for a new car and daycare for an infant. Not to mention it is not ok by my wife to put the baby in the front seat. SO I told her to give me a few weeks with my dream car and then I will sell it. It is a blue and siver passion with leather, cluster on the dash and rubber mats. I also got the 60/75,000 warranty. What should I list it for here in Charlotte? I need to sell it and was thinking of asking what I owe on it. Does that seem fare? Should I ask more or less? Anyone?

Don't take a loss. The blue/silver is a very popular color combo and the options are great. Try selling here for at or a little above your cost. Also might want to list on craigslist in your area. There are some great hidden buyers lurking in the craigslist world and craigslist is a free listing service. The local aspect is also a plus for that venue. Best of luck on selling it, but get ready to enjoy the time with your new little one. Spend all the time you can with them because they'll be old before you know it. Cherish the moments. Give her/him a positive and loving childhood that they can pass on to their kids. Make the chain go the right way.

Well said, Ron... Well said! We all have such a huge impact on society with the simplest of actions. Giving a child a good start... is a great start!

Good call. Get a bigger car for the car seat, groceries, and the soccer team that's coming, and spend every minute you can with your kid. In no time you'll be teaching them to drive the 2023 Smart. Actually that car will probably drive itself.

....and try to make a little extra on the car and sock it away for the future. college is expensive

I'd say its far from time to have to get anything big enough for a sports team, having a baby doesn't mean you need a huge vehicle, there are plenty of Mini owners with kids doing just fine (You can always rent when you do need a huge transport/truck or get things delivered - and diapers are probably cheaper online anyway ;) - less costly then owning and insuring that's for sure).

Anyway, congrats! - I'm sure you'll have no problem selling the Smart, esp when the gas prices climb in the summer.

She is hoping for a graduation gift-end of May-or sooner

sorry to hear about your loss, but at the same time CONGRATS on the baby! although the Smart would be a lot of fun for a long time, the baby will give you so much more. of course, it will COST you so much more as well!

you shouldn't have any trouble passing on your 1,200 mile Passion to someone else for what you paid for it, especially if you have a transferrable extended warranty. GOOD LUCK!

I have a young one scheduled to arrive end of april, I am now looking for a smart. Wife and baby will need our SUV and I will need something to get to work. With sky high daycare prices the smart seemed like the logical choice. Funny how the same scenario can have completely opposite solutions. Good luck with the sale.

The smart is our third car. Are you going to have the baby in the smart at anytime? Does your wife work during the day or will she be taking care of the baby full time? It was the fact that if I need to pick the baby at anytime I would have the smart........ Any thoughts?
