In all fairness, I don't use the cover everyday.
The cover's condition at this point is, as new.

When my cover arrived, I equated the quality to, 'Late 60s to middle 70s' Covercraft 'Silver Hypolon'. Covercraft, after Bob Lichtmann retired, went downhill with their cost (quality) saving. The company is much smaller today.

Looking at the Smart OEM cover, in my opinion, It looks to be a Covercraft product.

All in all, even not taking cost into consideration, I am pleased that I chose the Chart-One-Auto over Covercraft. The real value is in the details; example: the snap-buckles for the under-body straps have soft vinyl covers. The zippered soft storage case is large enough to, not have to be a Houdini to fold and put the cover away. The generous front and rear elastic is as strong as new.

Tip: Folding the cover for storage is not a problem, Unfolding orientation can be..... with the cover on top of the car, both mirror cover pockets on the mirrors, I have marked the underside of the cover with permanent marker, Rt, Lft and Front and Rear with arrows. I marked on seams but it looks like it doesn't show through.

I sometimes wish that when someone asks me the time...... I wouldn't feel I have to tell them how to build a watch. This, even though I hate typing... I had a secretary for that.

The cover from smart is bad

I ordered and just put on the car cover from smart. It is badddd. It is a plasticy gray with no liner and it did not fit very well. I had a hell of a time getting over the two mirrors.

I came across this forum because I was looking for an alternative and decided to get the superweave from California Car Cover after talking to the guy. My smart has to park outside on the driveway here in San Diego. So I don't need super thick multilayer protection since we get little rain and not rough weather.

What I wanted to prevent is the hard water spotting that has been on the sides from the sprinklers. James at California Car Cover said the superweave is light soft on the paint, rolls up small and is water repellent.

So I ordered on in blue (tho' he warned me it may fade) to match my Blue/Silver Cabrio and had them embroider my plate "EYNSTYN" on the front

I also just ordered a cover from calcarcover, but this one is a stormweave in blue (with Sacramento winters in mind) with my plate "I SMAART" embroidered on it. Had to pay $20 extra for that, but the alternative was to leave the company's default "CCCC" on there, which I didn't want (looks too much like something from the former Soviet Union). It should get here in a couple weeks. I'll let the group know how it turns out.

Chart One car cover installed

Just got one in for the smart (and for the Mini) per Donald's recommendation; here's a photo:

Goes on easily (once you figure out where the front is - will have to borrow the arrow trick), fits well and is very well made. I'm a happy camper.
