I hope this wasn't the Georgia car on eBay; this'll be a hard sell down South at that price with no A/C.

Just have the dealer put in AC. Anybody know what that costs?

Well, we've seen $1,500 for a set of powder coated wheels, so I'm guessing a full factory A/C install, parts & labor, should be well over that.

I hear you about the mark-ups (ouch). My service tech told me that air was an easy add on (everything is modular) but I never asked the price since I already had it.

Wow, amen to that. I bet we're not ten miles from you, and it's exactly what my daughter wants, right down to the silver cage and MP3 player, but no AC? In Atlanta? Guess she'll stay on the orphan list. Darn! So close, and yet so far.......

I don't think the Atl service center is up for putting in Air but I bet others would be. I would sell cheaper than on ebay to a local.

Smart of Buckhead has another AC-less orphan. We asked about it when we picked our Smart up yesterday, since we're still looking for an orphan, too. Eric said it'd be about $3,000 to retrofit AC, shrugged, and basically said, can't be helped. It's what the customer ordered, and they were forced to accept it. He said Smart requires them to keep several showroom models on hand, and he guessed it would be his model for a while, since it's otherwise pretty much unsaleable in ATL w/o AC.

Air Conditioning

Does anybody have any manuals on installing air in a smart?
