Wow, I can say I didn't understand what John said. I got something about choking a bipolar ferret and gave up.

Clearly it is the only way to put a bipolar ferret down effectively. Cute animals but they can be nasty.

That was all over my head too. I'll send your test results to Craig.

I am happy to be aware of the issue in case it comes up I'll at least have an idea of what to look for.

Steven

A clamp-on choke that attenuates at the right frequencies without affecting the risetime of the signals would help keep that energy out. Too aggressive and the intentional signals are attenuated in bad ways.

The bulk-cable clamp-on chokes may work okay since the ground also goes through the same cable bundle, cutting out the common-mode "noise" while keeping the differential clean. If the bulk-ferrite approach doesn't work so well, some guidance as far as which individual lines to filter and what ferrites to try could be helpful from those who know the signals.

If the twisted pair was one of the items of interest, a ferrite around just those two signals might also help.
John, I hear MIT calling you - there's a critical demand for your wizardry.

You know what I mean, Gene.

Looking at you is like looking at my Dad 50 years ago. He was a brainiac too. Somebody needs to pay you to think.

That world of *physioelectronomicalisity* - it was there, in the garage, filling each nanospace with brilliance. That stratosphere up there where we mortals only imagine...and where the big problems get solved.

Whether you realize it or not, you're there.

People will pay you to think.

Bipolar ferrets may be on the Endangered Species list. I'd be careful about advocating the asphyxiation of said animals, especially on a public forum. They even have their own animal rights advocacy group: BFFs (Bipolar Ferrets Forever).

Bipolar is a common mode for active ferrets that should be rectified to offset their behavior. If you see a twisted pair, choke them when they're wired.

Maybe next time I should send a PM

I understood John just fine... Should I be frightened?

Loss of tyhrottle control from RFI

I have the same problem. I installed an HF/UHF/VHF unit in my Smart. I have the cruise control from Smart Madness. Have you figured out what needs to be shielded? Also, if the cruise control is removed, does the problem still exist? This is really troubling since I have used radios in practically every car I have owned and never had a problem (and I've owned many cars).

By the way, the problem happens on HF (14.3 MHz) also.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

George
