..."and if you'll buy that, I'll throw the Golden Gate in free"...
History records that, until recently, everyone who has come up with ways to significantly increase fuel economy has been mysteriously killed or had there patents purchased for millions (if not billions) by entities that never have used them, and never intend to use them...
It's not conspiracy theory... It's conspiracy fact...

It is neither prudent nor pertinent to allow the thread to go that route. If you choose to believe that we live in a world where our politicians and company CEOs are looking out for OUR best interests, go right ahead. I don't believe that they are. That's all I've got on that subject. I mean it...

Spumonti you have proven my point, "If you choose to believe that we live in a world where our politicians and company CEOs are looking out for OUR best interests, go right ahead. I don't believe that they are."
If, as the owner of a company you could market and sell such a product you and your company would be RICH. Think back to our grandparents day, they used candles until the lightbulb was invented. Once the light bulb came along, there was no amount of candle making companies that could squelch it

Candles don't run the world power system, my friend...
Spumonti may very well be right on this one!! I have read a lot about this on the internet and it seems that a little acetone will change the chemical structure of gasoline and make it burn with more energy. It will also burn more complete in the cylinder, and you will see much less dripping out of the tailpipe. Most internet write ups say that it can effect some plastics, but they are usually refering to a much stronger concentration. I have not tried it, but it does make some kind of sense. Do we have a chemist in the house????
acetone destroys most types of rubber, plastic and paint, it's an organic solvent.
acetone also attracts water molecules, it's hydrophilic.
acetone can also explode/flash-burn violently and unexpectedly.
don't use acetone in your smartmobile, it's unwise.

I cant imagine why on earth you would want water in your tank!... Are you saying that you would rather the water stay in with your gasoline? I would think one would want the water to be attracted to whatever is going to clear it from your system faster. This is one of the major selling points of most fuel additives... Maybe you want water in there...I don't...
I will resound that bit about the paint with you. Don't let it get on your paint.
As for the plastics? Carry some gasoline in a Dixie cup and see what happens... If you think anything in our cars fuel system is made with that kind of plastic, you are mistaken. Gasoline is a solvent as well... I think the manufacturer thought of that...

acetone attracts moisture from the atmosphere; when you add acetone to your tank, you are also adding water molecules.
i understand that gasoline is a volatile solvent, but many automotive plastics/rubber are designed to to withstand gasoline. unfortunately, they are not designed to withstand acetone.
