You could use a rubber grip mat or sticky mat in the glovebox area, I've got one and had one in the centre console of my previous car. If you get the sticky jelly rubber mats though, they will discolour in sunlight (mine was clear and turned yellow), I've got a different type now, its like a grey rubber mesh, a whole english pound sterling at Tesco .

Current one is a bit like this

Old one was a bit like this

Not only will it add a handy, attractive storage solution to your Smart, but its a TYPE S. That means it will actually add an additional 5+ HP to your car, without having to put the red S sticker to the back of the car.

Lowes sells this stuff for around $9 in a good size roll. Plenty for multiple cars and color is perfect. Just check the tool isle near the tool boxes.

Nice. Good find. What about heavy-duty velcro?

My thoughts exactly. I always prefer the non-permanent option myself.

Question, can the passenger seat still move all the way forward? We have had some stuff loaded in that required the seat to go as far forward as it can

(Pretty funny to see the car stuffed with huge flower pots, soil plants, etc )

That was exactly my thought. I have some at home I bought to use to Velcro my GPS holder to the outside of my glovebox.

Double sided tape is not permanent. You can always take it off, wipe it with Goo Gone and you will never know that anything was there.
BTW mine still holding fine and my car parked in the full Florida sun for the most of the day.

Actually on the second thought, you can always use one part of the Velcro on the Shifter console and EPOXY second part to the pocket. I think that this might have better adhesion in the heat then just using 3M tape.
