mine is still holding with no indication of coming loose. it was the small bottle of contact cement from hd/lowes. mark it with a sharpie and carefully apply to both surfaces and let dry before putting together. cover your carpet just in case of goofs.

Looked really interesting at first. It was a great fit and the color was super.

But after reading nine pages of the thread with people trying, and suggesting, ever-more-permanent, risky changes to their console, I decided against it.

What happens if, in a year or two, the pocket breaks, tears, or otherwise fails? You go to Pep Boys and they no longer carry it. No one online has it. The company that made it in China is out of business. So you go to smart to buy a new console cover. And what does that cost and how long do you wait for it to come in?

The interest in the part makes it obvious that there's a market in the smart car world for such a product. Maybe one of the vendors can get something made that serves the same function and mounts reliably.

Sadly, I've found that I get burned about 95% of the time if I see a potential problem and just decide to take my chances.

Maybe it's because I'm an engineer: I swear that regular person can drive down the road at 75mph with a queen sized mattress tied to the roof of their car with two loops of yarn and have no problems. But if I were to transport the same mattress on a roof rack with ratchet straps, the wind would get under it, fold it in half, ruin the springs inside, and then rip the roof rack off of my car.

I really do like the storage idea and hope that some of the smart aftermarket accessory vendors come up with something like it that is designed, tested, and doesn't fail or become detached due to heat, cold, plasticizers, UV, etc. Hint-hint!

Using the "Dashboard" style velcro adhesive (as per my earlier posting) seems to be also working...been over two weeks now and whenever I'm in the car I place my wallet into the pocket so this approach has been "tested". Needless to say, my wallet isn't that heavy as that I'm not rich (did purchace a smart car now didn't I)...LOL

Ours is still holding strong; not coming loose after a few weeks of 'testing'.

I find it as handy as I had anticipated, now.
