Adding under-dash interior lights

I wolud like to add a couple of small under-dash lights tied in with the dome light as it is so dark with only the upper light.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to were to tap into the circuit with as mininum of fuss?

Thank you in advance

This is what I did,

Ties into the switched 12v in the fuse box but is not connected with the overhead dome light. Changes to any of 7 colors.

Not knowing what color your smart is, be VERY CAREFUL... I've gone through 3 sets of LED's now trying to find a nice yellow one... and SunDiego I love ya to death but that set you have does not produce a yellow color.

The yellow color works just fine but I leave it on white or off white normally. Don't expect to find any LED's that match the yellow of the car.

What I am hoping for is to be able to tap into the dome light circuit under the dash somewhere, rather than having to go all the way up to the dome light itself. I want the lights to be switched with the doors

I really wish I had a wiring diagram to start with

When I put mine in the back I found out it is wired in a different way than I expected. You have one tap that is hot at all times. The SAM(ECU) then grounds the other tap to turn the light on. When both taps have 12VDC the light remains off.
