Adding a vacuum gauge?

For all you guys who've thoroughly checked out the engine compartment, is there a convenient intake vacuum line available to splice in a vacuum gauge? Seems like a fair alternative to a ScanGauge, for around $25. Thanks!

I thought the arrow displayed in manual mode and its behavior has somehow a similarity to a vacuum gauge.

That's just the computer saying it's time to go to the next higher gear. The vacuum gauge (or economy gauge) will hopefully enable the driver to squeeze more mpg out of the car.

When a car accelerates there is usually a vacuum drop in the manifold and the gauge's needle then indicates that. The opposite is true when one backs off the gas pedal.
By eyeballing the gauge, the driver can get a better feel of the relationship of how much to press the pedal the least amount and also getting a good move forward. Primitive and simple it may be ...but it does help.

I agree with you on the value of a vacuum gauge.

I think it (the vacuum) could be taken off where I put the tee for the dump valve (blow off valve to some). I'll have to see if it is unadulterated
vacuum.

I'll do it when I get time and ambition.

Adding the scan gauge gives you much more information and lots less work. you just plug it in, set a few setting and off you go. Plus it will give you Check Engine codes if they ever come up. Much easier to mount than a Vacuum gauge with the vacuum line too (Just my opinion)

Sex is primitive, no reason to give it up.
