Air horns

Probably the first mod going on the car:

More info from www.smarttune.co.uk

You can get similar Fiamm 134dB DUAL-TRUMPET AIR HORNS from JCW (not John Cooper Works!!) for about $28.

^^^^ I have the same horns but marketed under the manufacturer's name (Stebel Nautilus Compact) on my Vespa. Man those suckers are loud. Much louder than the Hella Supertone horns I have on my WRX.

Here's a link to a WAV file. Crank those speakers up!

One of the first modifications I am going to make is transplanting the dual horns from my fathers old 1957 Pontiac StarChief. Its been waiting for a home since I put it in the garage20 years ago.

I have a set of trumpets on my TR6, My only complaint about them is that there is a hair delay for the pump to build enough pressure for the horn to sound. Also a quick (tap) "wake-up" toot with an air horn seems nearly impossible.

I never hear any "quick" taps in Miami.

Different Horn

I will follow a different tack if the part is available. I will try to install the accessory, two-tone, “Fanfare Horn” (Part Nr. A4515420320) for a couple of reasons:

a. It is very distinctive without being obstreperous and annoying, and,

b. We have a considerable population of road racing cyclists that train in our area. In my lither days (now gone by) I used to be one. A roadie is quite used to the sound of the Euro two-tone approaching from the rear, and knows them be friendly “cognozenti.” The only thing that could be more comforting to them would be a yellow smart with “MAVIC” decals on the sides and a roof covered with spare wheels.

I think this should be one of our first how to install guides... Nobody would expect to hear those sounds out of the smart!
