Price is almost the same.
I like the look of the Evil Twin better then Breathless one.
Breathless Air Scoop attaches to the smart with double sided tape, witch is good and bad. Bad is that I would be paranoid to loose it at 90MPH on the road, good is that you can remove it from your car if you decided that you do not like it or want go stock.
Looking from the pictures Evil Twin is using screws to attach directly to the air box (i might be wrong). Does anyone have any input on the quality of the Evil Twin and the way it is attaches to the smart.
Any input on both air scoops will be greatly appreciated.
I have been eyeing the evil twin one as well, which I think is a better design.
If you take a closer look at the scoop, it curves up from the bottom and tapers off into the intake. This actually induces more flow. The tapering off design guides the air flow better than the BPP's. BPP's scoop cups the intake almost orthogonal to the surface of the panel. This can cause a higher static pressure pt, thus back flow and eventually turbulence.
Case in pt. Blow at your palm directly with fingers closed up (0 deg). You will notice less air deflected to the side of the palm. Then tilt rotate your palm to about 30deg. Imagine where the air deflects to from the palm at 30deg is the entrance to the intake.

No. It attaches to the rear arch panel, it isn't really that close to the airbox.
If you remove the rear arch panel you will see the air is ducted forwards and down for about 30cm before going 90 degrees into the airbox.
The air route is so twisted and strangled that I can assure you that no scoop will increase performance.

I agree with Evilution entirely on this... the possible gain would be so small that the way the piping is routed, any benefit would be lost. What needs to be done is to find a way to make a much less restrictive pipe and get a true cold air intake going. The problem with doing this is where the engine is, and overall space constraints. Right now it looks like the best thing would be to mount an airbox to the rear bumper... but then you won't get forced air not to mention heat accumulation from the engine compartment. Any filter mounted externally is going to have a water problem and where the heck are you going to run the pipes? I will probably the the breathless intake scoop when I get my exhaust and a K&N air filter, but I really don't expect much more than looks from it.
Ernie,
Few questions.
Is there is any issues with double sided tape? It seems that scoop will create a lot of drag and air resistance.
Is it any chance that you working on the different version of the scoop? I really like shape of EvilTwin, IMHO it is looks more aggressive.
I do not expect any performance improvements, but want to change the look of my smart.

Smart's top speed is limited to 85mph.

It attaches to the panel.

From a purely aesthetic point of view, The Breathless Performance piece looks like it actually belongs on the car. The other one screws in and looks tacked-on. I don't believe the other one looks like it's part of the car, it looks like an aftermarket afterthought.
