turn the base 180 deg and secure to ceiling panel.
ad says 6" long and looks about 2" tall. id say more for a custom rod, but im going with it for now. should mount nice and close to ceiling, out of frontal view.
I've got almost an identical mirror in my street rod (check background in My Gallery). Mine is the same size & construction but is rectangular instead of oval - mount is absolutely identical.
Just pulled it off this afternoon as I'm about a foot and half taller than the guy that originally built the car and I can't see out so I have to rebuild a portion of the interior - upper console.
In my Smart I'll probably leave the mirror alone. There are normally more people behind me that I'm concerned about than the people in front of me.
yes but im kinda? big and the stock mirror took up too much, as we all discuussed previously. i think this looks pretty trick, i like the oval look. smaller and closer to the top and adjustable. originally i was looking for the rectangle, personal preferance?. i tried a 2" convex and then a 2-1/4" round flat mirror, i might have gotten used to them. someday. but this one looks most "comfortable" to use. maybe.
At first I thought the inside mirror was too big for the view out back. Then, I started keeping the passenger seat folded foward for various carry-ons (and it makes a reasonable armrest). With the seat folded down there is more viewable area out back and the mirror seems to be a more reasonable size.
I just wish I could mount it up higher. Can the stalk be turned around 180 degrees on its mount so it curves up instead of down?
how the hell does one get the old mirror off, went to auto glass shop and they wouldnt try....to much risk... I dont care about looking back I want to look out the damn window without this blocking traffic coming from the right
1200 miles in the past two days and just wonder what more of the world I would have saw with this mirror gone.
Grab the mirror stalk and slide it up. It comes off with the slightest pressure. I have two smarts and the mirrors remove in an identical manner.
The metal piece on the window is shaped differently than the normal wedge piece for US cars. It should be easily removed and a different mount glued in its place.
