I'm happy to know dealers (rather than a cooperation with a local installer) appear to be providing the installation. Kudos!

How much are those dealers charging to install cruise? What's their preference? Area 451 or MDC? Info may be good for anyone who needs it if they stumble on this thread.

My tech hates the Mdc and so do I the 451 is a much better unit. Yes it takes a bit longer to install but a much better unit

I've got the 451. It seems to me it has become harder to make contact with the button ... never impossible, but just requiring a lot of force. Anyone else? Maybe it's my imagination. But, I seem to recall someone else having a problem months ago.

The fact that some dealers are doing the installation should remove warranty concerns for everyone regardless of who did the installation, right??

You've asked the magic question - just because it's installed by the dealer doesn't mean it's covered by the smart warranty the way I understand it. Maybe someone else has more info on this.

jwight: I was referring to the concern some have had about having the CC installed when taking the car in for warranty work unrelated to the unit.

Aha! Yes, it would be difficult (but not impossible) for them to deny warranty work if they did the install.

451 CC

I was at the Tulsa Dealer 3 weeks ago. I asked about the 451 CC and service mgr said to wait till the 24K is up then do it (I have the additional 70K version)...

He said even if some dealers are installing 451 CC unit , that SMART is rejecting all claims related to electronics with the 451 CC installed...

He had delt with 3 issues so far , the owners have been $2/3K out of pocket for repairs.....

To me , it really SUX'z that we have to intigrate into electronics systems..... All other DBW's have a ONE switch that hooks into the ECU and presto , CRUISE CONTROL!!!! The ECU has the capibility to do it all!
