Anyone remove the passenger seat?

I would like to remove the seats and I cant seem to get the bolt holding the seatbelt to the seat loose on the passenger side. It is a torx and differs from the hex bolt pictured in evilution's tutorial...it also seems to have an extra box/wire adjacent that looks like it would need to be removed along with the seatbelt. I've broken an angled driver already attempting to get the torx bolt off, its on there very, very well, apparently. Anybody have tips or suggestions? Thanks.

Have you used the proper Torx bit? A T45, perhaps. Typically a socket wrench rather than an angled driver is used. Please remember that the wires on the bottom of the seat include the airbag wires and the weight sensor. If your car is powered up while the airbag is disconnected, you'll have to visit your dealership to get the airbag system reset.

Yes, I used the correct torx bit, the bolt seems pretty well on there. I aplogize for a lack of an image, maybe later on today I can post one.

Get PB Blaster. Spray it on and leave it for 6 hours. It will come out no problem. I have been considering doing this on my next smart and building a dog seat in its place.

Yeah...planned to take the seat out to install the armrest and couldn't get that seatbelt bolt. Not enough room to get in there... But getting the four bolts along the track and moving the seat forward (without disengaging the cables) worked perfectly!

I removed the passenger seat to run speaker wires under the carpet (to the back) and it was completely uneventful. Perhaps your tricky bolt was cross-threaded during assembly at the factory?

Note: If you do get the seat loose, be REALLY careful lifting it out of the car; the edges of the mounting brackets are fairly sharp and it's easy to damage the dash if you hit it.

If you're anywhere near North Florida you can bring it by the shop and I'll whack it out with an impact gun.

Cheers,

Johnny
