That looks great. Do you have a 'how-to'?

Looks Great! I made the same thing for my beige interior. Is that cotton, felt, polyester? I did mine out of beige vinyl, used dowels for the sticks which are still natural wood color.

Also, wife wouldn't do mine for me. I did it myself - first time on my industrial sewing machine. Oh, I can't sew a straight line to save my life - the machine is turbo powered. Wayyyy fast.

It is basically two wooden rods cut to length and a material attached to it (tubes sewn to house the rods or stapled to it?)? I will do some measurements and give it a try.

Thanks, folks.

The material is simply a polyester-blend stash fabric that my wife had. The piece is 45" wide, by 12.5" (includes 1.5" seams on both sides to hold the rods.)

We used two 7/16" diameter adjustable-spring rods, 28"-48" ($2.54 each at WalMart). They're rubber-tipped and fit snugly into the sidewall recesses.

Very nice! And the spring loaded rods are a great idea since they keep the shelf at tension. A classic DIYer project!

I finally got a pic of mine. Still not bad for about $8. I know it looks like a "short bus" sewing job. My next one I will take my time and redesign it for better cargo coverage. For now, it still works great.

did a better job than me on his - width is correct while mine is just slightly narrower. It keeps prying eyes out though and once I get tint on my windows it'll be leaps and bounds better than the fancy factory one - at least to the tune of a couple hundred bucks better. The stretcher won't be noticeable with the window tint.

The money saved from not getting the dealer/accessory cover will pay for the window tint. The window tint will have a double or triple added bonus.

1. Tinted windows make it harder for prying eyes to see what is in the cargo area.
2. Tinted windows keep the interior cooler - A/C won't work as hard giving you better mpgs thus saving $$$
3. With window tint you can finally pick your nose and drive without people really noticing you.

My beige stands out a bit more than EdwardDennis's gray. His is nice and subtle.

This looks like a great solution for a "stage" for my little 8 pound Pomeranian! I can put a small crate pad on top and she'll be as snug as a bug!
