I've stuck a bent coat hanger through the right Tip and it stops at the junction of where the two Tips split. i can stick the coat hanger in the left Tip all the way.

I have the BPP sport exhaust and both tips are open and both carbon equally. I suspect the difference between the sport and touring models may be that the touring only has a single open tip to lower the sound level that occurs with the sport model.

I had my sport version become slightly more dirty on the left side.

I shot some flat black heat paint into the right side deep and like the result.

I do wipe the inside edge of the tips about once a week and they clean up nice.

I believe it's due to the exhaust flow, the left side gets more flow than the right tip. My DTH Center Exhaust's tip gets black pretty evenly, if you look at the design the tips split earlier than the BPP, causing more even flow of "blackness". I sprayed my inner tips with Black high heat paint to even them out.

You are the winner!!! Sorry to say but there are no dummy tips here. They are both open and the reason that one tip gets darker is that the flow of the exhaust gas tends to go to the outside tip due to the bend of the tubing and the speed the exhaust gas travels.
Very simple answer..

Congrats Tiger

I believe the baffle in the Touring is actually at the END of the single tube - before the tips come out and split.

Again I will answer since we are the ones that build them. The baffel is inside the the muffler not in the pipe and the tips are both functional.

Ernie,
Thanks for clearing that up for all of us. I for one appreciate what you do.
