While we can't all afford our own dynos and skidpads, we can come pretty darned close for less than $70 delivered. If you've ever wondered how much (if any) performance you gained with an upgrade to your powertrain, wheels, suspension, or brakes, you'll probably like this device.
This is an accelerometer-based (G-force) performance computer which can give you:
- Time to speed:
- 0-10mph, 20mph, 30mph, 40mph, 50mph, 60mph, 70mph, 80mph, 90mph, 100mph
- Time to distance and "trap speed" (speed at distance):
- Time to speed:
- 60 ft., 330 ft., 1000 ft.
- 1/4 Mile Time
- Braking -- 60-0mph
- Basic G-Meter Function for acceleration, braking, and cornering
- Advanced G-Meter Function including race monitor with friction circle and brake testing
- Peak and Average Horsepower
Installation:
Stick on windshield with suction cups. Plug in 12 volt plug.
Calibration:
This thing is astoundingly accurate out of the box and needs no calibration for anything other than horsepower (and then, only if you want really accurate dyno-like numbers). If you need exact horsepower, you need to enter coefficient of drag x frontal area, vehicle weight, drivetrain loss, and rolling resistance. If you just want comparative numbers (i.e., how much did pipe X increase the horsepower? 8%?), you can skip that.
I have one. They are seriously cool. They are on closeout, which is why they can be had cheap ($50-$60 + Shipping).
If you have a DIN filler panel below a single DIN radio, you could mount the G-meter on that (if you want a permanent mounting). It could be a great complement to a Scanguage II.
Hope this is of value to some of you.
