I think there might be problems with changing out the wheel and losing an air bag (legal wise) The mininum problem is that your air bag warning light will stay on.

Besides the airbag, another safety feature of the steering wheel is that its collapsible in the event of a crash.

An after market steering wheel would need to be pretty well designed ($$$) to replace the original.

Do you have a nice aftermarket wheel with airbag already chosen? Love to see it.

The only "simple" upgrade I can think of would be replacing the 2-spoke Pure wheel with the 3-spoke Passion wheel. Even then, the wheel and airbag would not be cheap to purchase, and both the Pure and Passion wheels look and feel very nice, in my opinion.
