Controlling the ESC?

This may be heresy, but has anyone figured out yet how to add a switch to enable/disable the electronic stability control system?

I like the *idea* of ESC, but there are times - okay a *lot* of times - where the ESC gets in the way of having fun with the car, and I'd like to be able to switch it off when I want to.

Okay, and....

In the absence of available service manuals (thanks a lot, Damlier... Not!), how'bout an idea or two where to start? And can it be done without crippling the ABS?

Look through the "Snow" threads. I know Dan from SmartTune pulled his fuse for the esc, but I think I read about somebody putting a switch in the left hand cubby.

Good Luck, and Welcome!

So you think it be possable to make a dead switch in the switch bank be able to controll our traction controll that be cool , i know in my mni we have a toggle and it be sweet to make that option on the smart!

now do you need the car to be off before turning it off or can you turn it off and on at will while driving?

That's what I was wondering, as it was suggested

That by switching the power at fuse 11, one might run the risk of the make/break of the switch arch producing damaging inrush to the sensitive electronic control unit or some other equally sensitive electronic device and render it *Toast*.
This I would not want to do.....

Thank you. It's a computer. Unless someone with intimate knowledge of the electronics and software can assure you that runtime interruption is safe, you run the risk of screwing up a vital safety system and/or the entire computer that controls everything from the ABS to ignition. I'm betting the warranty would basically be thrown out, so "at your own risk" has new meaning.

When the computer's ESC and ABS and other WTF software includes control over brakes and throttle, you'd better know what you're getting into. It'd really suck to have the hill-start assist kick in at 60mph.

So did you try it yet? I'm curious. How did it work?

BTW - what's the story behind the "The Rigger" name? Inquiring minds (or mind) want to know - just curious as I know some people who've used a similar screen name before.
