...11, 18 and 34 are all labeled ESP...so...if we can do roundly rounds with 11 pulled, what happens when we pull 34?....18 has ESP, power steering, air bag and instrument panel... just curious..

Thing is you don't need to worry about disabling the ESP. Look for traction control, but sadly it's a function of the ESP in the 451, where as in the 450 you could just switch the traction off and nothing else

I know that 11 disables traction control, abs, and the creep function and I like it.....

So I've been running without the fuse for a month or so and I decided to put it back in. I lasted about an hour and had to pull it back out. Totally different car and not near as much fun.

YMMV....

Question: can the individual functions be controlled separately, e.g. switch off just the traction control but keep everything else functioning, or does the button kill everything on fuse 11 en masse?

It would be fery intersting... I would just like to kill traction control sometimes. and maybe stability and traction sometimes.

Only problem with "priced well" items, it that they tend to be priced out of my pricerange.

Still I look forward to it... mainly because it will be very helpful in the winter.

Yes I am very new to the forums only, just because I have been testing this on my friends smart car for a while now trying to get everything perfect. Now I am buying my own smart.

A couple days ago I hit a patch of black ice on the way to work. If the ESP light had not flashed I would not have even known it happened. I looked in the rear view and the cars behind me were all over the place.
The Smart is what it is, and it is not a performance car. The electronics on the little bugger is not simple, be carefull what you fool with, you may end up a dead Smart or even worse one that costs more to fix than to buy a new one.

To each his own, that is why we drive Smarts, because we are not satisfied with a ho hum car.

It is really a shame that when they engineered the car they didn't allow a defeat of the traction control that would automatically undo itself at say 4-5mph. These cars are too twitchy to drive with the stability control off at higher speeds. The only time I don't want the traction control on is in really lousy snow conditions that have kept the car stuck. I too have incountered black ice (in the dark no less) and was really glad to have the ESC do its job, a slight twitch was all I felt.
