Well, perhaps mine was just user error, but I did recalibrate it many times with the help of Joey at linear-logic. Despite that, it was off at fillup by as much as 70%. I finally gave up when, after putting in 5.3 gallons, it told me I had put in 12 gallons. (oh, and the tank capacity was set at 9 gallons!

I still think the scangauge is worth getting for it's other functions and as a training aid when you're learning what driving style will give you the best relative mileage. I simply could never get it to give me an average mpg for a tank of gas that agree with the mpg calculated by dividing miles driven by gallons used.
