cool gauges

Hey, I'd thought I'd share some of the products I have found while searching for the perfect one ( for me anyway)

DashHawk is probably the closest to the Scanguage II DashHawk Vehicle Information Display

This is probably the coolest, but doesn't do MPG, but would fit very nicely in the clock pod.
PLX Devices Inc. - DM-200 OBD II 60mm Universal Gauge

Their Kiwi is more in line with the scanguage:
PLX Kiwi - Save Gas, Improve MPG, Drive Green, Reduce CO2

Don't buy a Kiwi. I got one for XMas. (Asked hubby for Scanguage but the pretty colors distracted him). It does not appear to accurately calculate gas mileage for the Smart. Except for one reply all messages to the vendor have been ignored.

LauraC, my scangauge has never accurately calculated the mileage for my Smart in the 8000+ miles I've used it. To their credit, the manufacturer has tried suggesting various things to try but none worked. The gauge does fine for it's other functions and for relative mpg while driving.

It can accurately calculate once you calibrate it. "It" being a Scangauge - I'm pretty sure the same can be done with the Kiwi. I purposely leave my Scangauge off calibration so it will make me try harder to get better mileage.

I'm still considering the Kiwi but I've had a Scangauge for YEARS and it has been VERY faithful so that may make me a repeat purchaser so I can install one in my other car - plus it is cheaper.

Well, perhaps mine was just user error, but I did recalibrate it many times with the help of Joey at linear-logic. Despite that, it was off at fillup by as much as 70%. I finally gave up when, after putting in 5.3 gallons, it told me I had put in 12 gallons. (oh, and the tank capacity was set at 9 gallons!)
I still think the scangauge is worth getting for it's other functions and as a training aid when you're learning what driving style will give you the best relative mileage. I simply could never get it to give me an average mpg for a tank of gas that agree with the mpg calculated by dividing miles driven by gallons used.

Ever think of adding autometer gauges? I put their tach, shift light, digital controller, oil pressure gauge and water temp gauge in mine.... just a suggestion.

Adding Autometer Gauges to your Smart Fortwo

I am considering the KIWI for my 08 Smart. Could you tell me more about your experience with your KIWI and your Smart? What exactly did you not like about it?? I am concerned about the lack of response about your questions. Did you e-mail or use a phone call??
