i wouldnt do that being the engine compartment is rather warm.. the sealed air box is resonably effeicent.. you may be better going with a high flow k+n filter and removing the the sound baffles .. for better air flow..tht will give you the best bang for the buck .. with out going to a cold air intake.

If you are going to just drill a hole (maybe 2" dia?) and leave it as is, then no pt. However, if you are innovative enough, you can maybe design a air duct to channel air from a colder region to this hole. Keep in mind that the space is really constrained around the airbox area.

The stock intake system from the side is pretty effective with the right air scoop minus the air baffles.
get one that is large enough to really work ,and not one that just looks cool.
remember the throttle body is only going to take as much air as the blade will allow past it .I think the key is to keep the engine as cool as possible, some one should come up with a wide flat scoop that channels air up to the egnine block from under the car just in front of the engine.hmmm maybe i will

Only problem with that, is in the winter I scrape bottom in the deep snow and a scoop there would plug up....'cours you could add a de-icer....

Another issue is you'd have to drill below the filter, as the top of the airbox feeds the engine and is downstream from the filter.
