Vince, you're right. I haven't focused on it due to many other things going on in my life. I will start calling them frequently and see whether that bears fruit. Has anyone mentioned a class action suit? This looks like a serious "epidemic" to me, as there seem to be even v2 ones failing? Serious buzz-kill material. t

Finally got to get it off the car today... pictures are worth a 1000 words... complete and total failure after less than 10,000 miles.

Off comes the trash....

Complete failure of the support weld... it was banging against the exhaust.

Welds on the muffler portion let go too... on both ends....

Another view of the damage....

The solution.... better made... better sound.... Genius ROCKS!!!!!!

Doug Thorley exhaust failure - broken rivots

In 2008, I purchased the dual-tip DT exhaust only to need a replacement for broken welds some 6 months later. Version 2.0 has lasted some 6 months and my exhaust has rivots pulling through the exhaust cannister. I just spoke with Nick Thompson of DT. I heard the bad news: DT is out of stock for Smart451 replacement exhausts! The likely wait time is 1-2 weeks!

So, I get to rent a car while I wait for a replacement. I shared with Nick I only want the new quiet dual-tip exhaust as my warrantly replacement. Not because I dislike the sound of my current dual-tip; rather, after two exhaust cannister failures, I have no faith the aluminum dual-tip exhaust.

Elie of 4smartcar is helping me address the exchange with DT. As the failed exhaust is past the 90 day warranty through 4smartcar, I must work with DT. I appreciate Elie's help.

Yah I've been waiting for my replacement about 9 months I think.

I have the exact same failure on mine.

They just told me they had a new one coming out in two weeks.

Sounds like everyone is getting different stories

This is getting ugly.

No warranty info. coming from DT owner.

I just spoke with Nick Thompson and the owner of DT has no availability for replacement exhausts! I had hoped DT would provide a replacement unit and delivery date.

This is eactly why I've decided to build my own Center exit exhaust using a fully welded muffler. I hope to have pictures up in a couple of weeks. I have all the parts, just need time to piece it all together and have my buddy weld it up.

Not the response of a responbile vendor.

Since 3/18/10, DT is not providing any delivery information for replacement of my defective / under warranty exhaust. Earlier this morning, I have left a voice message with Rick May, the owner of DT. No call back. Not the response of a responbile vendor.

Anyone esle hear any details?
