Engine Swap possible for US-spec 451?

I've read about the Smartuki conversions, but wondering if anyone has any knowledge (or has already done) about an engine swap with a car engine.

I'm not sure if there are any car engines small enough to fit in the SMART, but would be curious if this is do-able.

LOL. I was reading a post where someone *planned* to do an SRT-4 engine swap, but that seems big, too??

Toyota MR2 engine is probably the best car engine conversion I have seen.

Nice! That sounds promising. I like the fact that the Toyota is a reliable engine. Do you have any links to these builds?

Not on your life would I consider a Fiat X-1/9 swap. Transaxles were never a highpoint on the Fiat X-1/9. Engines were'nt either.

Subaru XT's are Horizontally opposed FWD vehicles.

I'm not familiar with these engine sizes. Will they fit inside the SMART's OEM engine bay? Or will it require some of the trunk space?
