To illustrate Jet's point, here are pics of mine after I removed it. You can see the difference from the pics of TMACKS's '09 in post #72.

Some sensors will be acted upon straight away like the knock sensor so fuel quality isn't a big problem. The driving algorithm however is built up slowly and adjusted slightly every time you drive. Disconnecting the battery and driving in a frugal manner will teach the car to be more fuel efficient in about 50 to 60 miles. Driving flat out like a maniac will adjust the map for more power and less mpg.

Thank you Kane. BTW, the pipe looks great in red although mine could probably use some baby oil...

Yeah, Kane: Thanks for furthering this nation's political polarization with your color options.

I believe a prior post was accurate: dropping the engine by two inches would probably allow enough room to extract without going the wheel well route, but I wasn't about to do that as a backyard mechanic.
Indeed. I've been trying to incorporate an exterior-mounted Baron's air kit.

The cosmetics application is obviously challenging-- (... I discounted a simple wheel-well opening)---let alone the intake tubing support.

It's unfortunate that the driver-side quarter-panel plastic is manufacturer-recessed to accomodate the stock plastic grid. Availability of a smooth-sided panel would permit a little low-cost experimentation. I'm thinking of searching for some cheap quarter-panels to experiment on.

MHLO, of course...

..thanks to Krusty for the picture...if we want to free some air ( don't go there Panda) we have to remove or at the very least smooth out the intake duct...just like baby benz did...

jetfuel...working on it..
Opps...addendum:

Because someone is, purportedly, "...working on it", I'll hold my proposed garage work and see what our forum experts have to offer...

I Got Mine...

...Or so my housekeeper tells me, anyway. Arrived yesterday.

(I won't be home to do anything with it for another four weeks, but still...)

I received the Forge pipe day before yesterday and installed it yesterday, replacing the Mocal pipe that I had installed previously. My initial impression is that it is significantly quieter than the Mocal pipe. As with so many of these "little" changes we make to our smarts, the effects are sometimes difficult to quantify. It does feel different, just can't put my finger on the specific difference yet. I'll post when I've more specific input.

If it was up to me they would be available in orange too but black, blue and red seem to be the only options.
