This weekend I took apart my calipers (2-13mm bolts) and removed my brake pads, to paint my calipers with the G2 Caliper Paint Kit ($37 off of ebay). The kit comes with caliper cleaner, paint and hardener (enough for 4 calipers). The kit gives you plenty of working time to paint your calipers twice to give it a smooth finish. After the paint cured overnight I reassembled the brakes. It turned out pretty good. I also rattle canned my rear drums so the wheels would stand out more, I used a Krylon Semi Gloss heat resistant Black paint.
...58..that looks pretty cool...it really shows the caliper well...
...did my calipers on my stang about 6 years ago using plain enamel paint for about $5 from my local store and still looks good.....
I was staring at my front calibers just today, wondering how they would look - now I have a good idea. I'm considering red calibers for my black exterior/red interior. As an accent, would set it of well. Good job, Tiger!
Did you clean your drums before painting? How did you prep to paint the drums black? or did you just spray the hell out of them?
Thanks tiger,
Eric
I used a light steel wool to clean any residue without getting the drums wet. You really don't want to use any cleaning products, it might react with the paint. The spray applied evenly and dried fast. I put about 3 light coats. I made it through the salty winter here.
