Garmin GPS mount

Hey,
I was trying to find a good place for my Garmin. I always have a bad luck with suction cup mounts. Here in Florida especially in the summer suction cup always fall off the windshield (most of the time when you trying to take a ramp off I-4 at 80 mph)
So I was using this Garmin Portable Friction Dashboard Mount
for Nuvi GPS

So I decided to modify it for smart.
I unscrewed plastic piece from the base and screwed it to the lid of the driver side AC vent.
Here is how it looks.

Good Luck.

Nice, that's EXACTLY where I have my Nuvi at. I kept using the friction mount as I swap it between cars a lot. I also don't have the guts to drill any holes in the car yet. Maybe next month.

You don't necessarily have to screw it done. I'm using that same base in my current vehicle and I used the adhesive that it came with it. There is no way that base is coming off. The adhesive (instead of holes) maybe easier to deal with in the future if I decide to make a change.

Above the radio location didn't work for me because I have Tach and Clock.
As you might notice from my other posts, I don't have a problem drilling holes in my cars. ;-)
Even If I decided to go stock in the future I can get that vent piece from dealer for around $50 or less.

Good Luck
