If everyone is so worried about water think about jet ski filters water proof. You can put one of those filters on if you would like, they also make a sock for them that does not affect air flow. This system will be just find though very good design two thumbs way up

Hi guys,
Thank you for all of the great feedback on the intake system. I have had this intake installed on the car I use for testing for about 4 month's now and have never had a water problem. The car is driven daily in Michigan by a bit of a maniac through rain, snow, dirt and whatever (but no deep puddles!). I have taken the intake off a bunch of times to check for problems and could only find a dusting of road salt residue in the intake tube.

I have had some trouble getting things anodized so I am having these Powder coated instead. The price will remain the same but now they will only come in two colors, simi-gloss black and a sort of polished aluminum color.
For any of my customers that already have an anodized one, just E-mail me if you want to trade for one of the powder coated versions.

Thanks again Cube for the outstanding review, and I am working on some really cool Genius Parts stickers as well as some exciting new products!

Issues throwing a CEL

Do you have any issues yet whith testing it over a 1,000 mile ride to see if it will throw a Check Engine Light. I have a well known intake with a different design thats made for the smart but it keep throwing a CEL according to the DEALERSHIP its because of the Intake.
They tell me they are getting a reading that shows "Air temp sensor" Keep not the intake is the only perfomance mod I have.

Please let me know if the Genius model does this and or even is this possible for the smart cars with the Genius product or any cold air intake for that matter.

Thanks

No problems here so far. I know that it is possible. I am not talking about Smart. Just Google "cold air intake cel".
It is possible that your sensor is bad and Dealer just trying not to do the warranty work. If I would be you, I would swap back to the stock air box and see if problem reoccur.

2micro, the only problem I have ever had while testing was a check engine light that came up random misfire. Talked to the guys at the dealership and had them look at the car. They didn't think the intake was the cause. They re-set the light and it never came on again. that was at least 3000 miles ago. I am not sure what would cause an intake temp code. However, dealers of all automotive brands are notorious for getting out of warranty work by blaming aftermarket products. I would ask them to be very specific about how on earth an intake system could cause this code.
